Project Name: Southwest Florida System Expansion
Owner: TECO Peoples Gas
Location: Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee Counties - Florida
Project Scope:
The owner selected TESCO to design and permit the distribution system for their expansion of facilities in southwest Florida. The project included:
Sarasota County - 29.1 miles and 125 customers
Charlotte County - 47.3 miles and 250 customers
Lee County - 27.8 miles and 188 customers
Services Provided:
Conduct customer survey of areas of counties to be served by PGS. Estimate load profiles of customers and determine best route for providing service. Design distribution system, calculate customer loads, and determine pipeline sizing. Using average unit pricing, determine the feasibility of providing natural gas service to each area to be served. Upon approval of PGS management, complete system design and submit drawings to permitting agencies for approval.
As Director of Utility Services for TESCO, Mr. Firebaugh obtained digital files from respective counties for preparing project drawings. Potential natural gas customer sites were visited to determine load profile and meter/service line routing. The natural gas distribution system was modeled using standard industry tools. Permitting agencies and local utilities were contacted to determine the impact of the extension of natural gas facilities and to obtain facility drawings.
