PIPELINE INSPECTION SERVICES

 

Specification Review

 

Meet with the engineer/owner and other principals to review the project schedule, permits, drawings, and specifications.  Insure that project inspection requirements are consistent with services to be performed.

 

Material, Equipment, and Services  Review

 

Review purchase orders for material and equipment for project.  Review prime contractor and subcontract agreements for services to be performed.    If necessary, discuss project requirements with engineer/owner to insure that inspection services scope is clearly defined.

 

Site Mobilization

 

Attend pre-construction meetings with engineer/owner and prime contractor.  Review documentation related to prime contractor and subcontractors.  This could include:

  • Welding Procedures and Welder Qualifications

  • Equipment Operator Certifications (if applicable)

  • Contractor/Subcontractor Licensing

  • Operator Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Inspect Contractor/Subcontractor Equipment for project suitability and safety

Inspection of Materials and Equipment Delivered to Site

 

Prior to allowing any materials and/or equipment to be unloaded at site, inspect the delivery with the shipper and prime contractor representative.  The inspection should include: 

  • Complete inspection of delivery for damages that may have occurred during shipment.  If damages are observed, notify owner and equipment supplier prior to unloading delivery.

  • Review shipping manifest to insure that all items ordered meet specifications.  Insure that all items listed on the manifest are being delivered.  Note any discrepancies and notify owner and equipment supplier prior to unloading delivery.

  • Support prime contractor with the unloading of material/equipment to insure that delivery is not damaged during transfer and properly stored on site.  Accept delivery and release shipper.

  • Collect material/equipment documentation and forward to appropriate individual.

Inspection of Prime Contractor/Subcontractor Work

 

During each phase of project construction, fabrication, and installation; inspect work for quality, completeness, and compliance with project specifications. 

  • Document the project progress using “Daily Progress or Inspection Report”.

  • Take pictures of key work elements and include with reports.

  • Review non destructive testing reports, compaction test results, concrete sample test results, cathodic protection reports, paint quality testing, and pressure test reports for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

  • Witness gas cleaning blows, equipment start up and facility commissioning as defined in Inspection Scope of Work requirements.

  • Provide engineer/owner with project updates and/or reports as per Inspection Scope of Work requirements.

  • Provide other inspections services as authorized by engineer/owner during construction of project.
